Champions League: GR6

Who needs to win?

This is going to be a tricky round for most of us. Rest and rotation will play havoc with our iTeam’s. We’re all in the same boat, so don’t despair. There are still some big teams that require a win to ensure qualification…

In Group A, Leverkusen need only better Shakhtar Donetsk’s result against Manchester United to book their place in the knockout stage. Manchester United have qualified but still require 1 more point to ensure they top the group. Moyes will want a morale boosting performance, so I expect to see a strong Man Utd line-up.

In Group B, Real Madrid have already qualified as group winners. I don’t expect them to field their strongest team. Bale is recovering from the flu and they might not risk Ronaldo in a game they don’t need to win. Ronaldo and Bale have both travelled though, there’s hope… Juventus and Galatasary will battle it out for 2nd spot. Juve need a point, Galatasaray have to win.

In Group C, PSG are the group winners. The likes of Ibrahimovic, Silva and Motta could be rested. Benfica need to get a better result than Olympiacos to qualify.

Group D is pretty much over and done with. Bayern and Man City have already qualified. Pellegrini has both eyes on the Arsenal game and has already stated that he will rest his stars. Bayern, fresh from a 7-0 win on Saturday, will probably do the same.

In Group E, Chelsea are already in the last 16. Like Man Utd, they will also want a morale boosting performance and to top the group. Basel and Schalke will battle each other for the remaining qualifying spot. Schalke are favourites but you can’t rule out Basel.

Group F is a mess… Arsenal need to avoid a 3 goal defeat against Napoli to ensure qualification. Dortmund are guaranteed a place in the last 16 if they win. Napoli can still qualify without beating Arsenal by 3 but only if Dortmund fail to win. Confused? I am… I will be taking a risk and using my transfers to put the likes of Lewandowski and Reus into my iTeam. I’m confident that it will be Arsenal and Dortmund celebrating on Wednesday.

Atletico Madrid have topped group G. Zenit and Porto are eyeing up 2nd spot. Zenit are strong favourites. If they can overcome Austria Wien, then they will be in the last 16. The Hulk is a good transfer option.

There is still a lot to be decided in Group H. Barcelona may have already qualified but they will still field a decent team to make sure they top the group. Milan require a a draw against Ajax. I can’t see Ajax causing a shock in this one. Kaka and Balotelli will be popular choices this round.

Ideally your iTeam will already be filled with players that are guaranteed to be in the next round. At the very least players that stand a good chance of qualifying. Use your GR6 transfers wisely… There is some good news. In GR7 you will receive 6 free transfers + 1 optional.

If you haven’t created your free Champions League iTeam yet, it’s not too late. With lots of gameround prizes still to give away, it’s definitely worth having a go. Newly created iTeams have been winning a lot of the GR prizes so far. You can sign up for free here –
