Double Gameweek 34 Preview – By Gregg Livingstone

April 23, 2015 10:49 am Diego Costa

Well… it’s Gameweek 34 already, and with only 5 games left it’s tight at the bottom of the league but not so much at the top. Chelsea are 10 points clear of Arsenal and can win the league this week with 2 wins. Chelsea will win the league. It’s inevitable. The only question is whether it’s this week or next.

It’s a double GW this week with Chelsea, Liverpool, Hull and Leicester all playing twice. Captain wise, you should be looking at Chelsea/Liverpool players to get you double points. I loaded up with Tottenham players after they played last week so I could ditch them after they play first this week. Swap them for Chelsea/Liverpool players and you could score some big points this week.

Ata Abatay is top of the World Championship with his team ‘Lepistes’ on a massive 2210 points, that’s an impressive 66.9 weekly point’s average. It’s very tight at the top though and with 5 GWs remaining, anything can happen.

SOUTHAMPTON V TOTTENHAM

GW 34 kicks off early with Southampton taking on Spurs at St. Marys. The Saints sit 7th in the league with Spurs one place above them. Southampton will want to get back to winning ways after defeat last time out against Stoke. Spurs, meanwhile, secured a 3-1 victory at Newcastle to maintain their hopes of a top 6 finish. Harry Kane scored his 30th goal of the season at St. James’ Park and with a FiT value of still only 8.4 million, he is well worth getting in for the final 5 games if for some reason you don’t already have him. Ditch those Spurs players after this game however, as they are the penultimate game in GW 35. Replace them with Liverpool or Chelsea players, or Leicester and Hull players if you must.

SOUTHAMPTON’S LAST 5 – DWLWL

TOTTENHAM’S LAST 5 – LWDLW

SCORE PREDICTION – 2-2

ONE TO WATCH – Harry Kane (Spurs)

BURNLEY V LEICESTER

Burnley have replaced Leicester at the bottom of the league due to Leicester’s resurgence. 3 wins on the spin for the Foxes have given them a real chance in their bid for survival. This is a real 6 pointer and, with only 5 games left, both teams will be desperate for the win. Burnley haven’t scored in their last 4 games which is in stark contrast to in-form Leicester who have bagged 10 goals in their last 4 outings.

BURNLEY’S LAST 5 – WLDLL

LEICESTER’S LAST 5 – DLWWW

SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1

ONE TO WATCH – Danny Ings (Burnley)

CRYSTAL PALACE V HULL

Hull remain in serious trouble just outside the relegation zone in 17th. Palace, however, have risen up the league in recent weeks with 4 wins out of 5. I was one of the people who brought Yannick Bolasie in to most of my teams ‘after’ his hat trick against Sunderland only for him to do nothing against West Brom. I’m not sure if I was expecting him to grab another hatty, but I was still angry when he didn’t! Hull haven’t won in 6 and I think they will struggle again today against a well drilled Crystal Palace. Bolasie is certainly worth a punt at only 4.3 million but to be honest you should only be thinking about transferring in double GW players.

CRYSTAL PALACE’S LAST 5 – WWWWL

HULL’S LAST 5 – DDLLL

SCORE PREDICTION – 3-0

ONE TO WATCH – Yannick Bolasie (Palace)

NEWCASTLE V SWANSEA

14th place Newcastle have plummeted down the table recently. 6 losses in a row and only 2 goals scored in those games makes for dreadful reading. John Carver’s men face a Swansea side looking for a best finish in the Premier League under Gary Monk. 1 point will see the Swans beat their best ever Premier League points haul. I fancy Newcastle for this one though, only because they should have accidentally won by now!

NEWCASTLE’S LAST 5 – LLLLL

SWANSEA’S LAST 5 – LWWDL

SCORE PREDICTION – 2-1

ONE TO WATCH – Bafatimbi Gomis (Swansea)

QPR V WEST HAM

19th place QPR look like they will need a miracle to survive relegation come May. 21 losses in 33 games is not good enough and that reflects QPRs dire league position. West Ham haven’t managed to keep their earlier season form going into the business end of the season so far, but remain comfortable in 10th. Charlie Austin’s home form has been great and a return of 17 goals and 8 assists in 30 games reflects that. QPR need to start winning games to stand any chance of survival and I think they can pinch this one. With Liverpool and Man City in their next 2 games, maximum points against the Hammers is vital.

QPR’S LAST 5 – LLLDL

WEST HAM’S LAST 5 – LWLDL

SCORE PREDICTION – 2-0

ONE TO WATCH – Charlie Austin (QPR)

STOKE V SUNDERLAND

With Stoke safe in mid table, it’s Sunderland who are desperate for the points in this one. Only 1 point above the relegation zone and with only 5 wins to their name all season, which is the lowest amount shared with Burnley, the Black Cats will want to bounce back after their thumping at home to Crystal Palace in their last game. Jermain Defoe is a snip at 5 million and has goals in him, and Dick Advocaat will need him to help fire Sunderland out of trouble.

STOKE’S LAST 5 – LLLDW

SUNDERLAND’S LAST 5 – DLLWL

SCORE PREDICTION – 1-2

ONE TO WATCH – Mame Biram Diouf (Stoke)

WEST BROM V LIVERPOOL

The first of Liverpool’s 2 games this GW is away at the Hawthorns. Liverpool are still fighting for a Champions League spot despite suffering devastating losses against Man Utd and Arsenal recently. Having crashed out of the FA Cup, another trophy less campaign would be easier to swallow if Brendan Rodgers’ men could secure a top 4 finish. West Brom have had mixed fortunes of late but are coming off the back of a great win away at Crystal Palace. Last week.

WEST BROM’S LAST 5 – WLLLW

LIVERPOOL’S LAST 5 – WWLLW

SCORE PREDICTION – 0-2

ONE TO WATCH – Phillipe Coutinho (Liverpool)

MANCHESTER CITY V ASTON VILLA

Saturday evening brings us FA Cup finalists Aston Villa traveling to the Etihad to face Man City. Despite their FA Cup heroics, Villa still remain in serious trouble and are languishing in 15th place in the league. Man City occupy the final Champions League spot currently, 7 points ahead of Liverpool having played a game more however. Prior to their victory against West Ham, City lost back to back games including a 4-2 defeat against fierce rivals Man Utd, seriously denting their title aspirations. Villa did get a fantastic win last time out, beating Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Christian Benteke grabbing the only goal.

MAN CITY’S LAST 5 – LWLLW

ASTON VILLA’S LAST 5 – WWLLW

SCORE PREDICTION – 3-1

ONE TO WATCH – Sergio Aguero (Man City)

EVERTON V MANCHESTER UTD

Man Utd have been on a great run and are sat comfortably in the top 4. Everton are 12th after a disappointing season. Man Utd have beaten Spurs, Liverpool and Man City in recent weeks and despite losing to Chelsea last GW, are good value for their recent good form. Everton have found clean sheets hard to come by this term but have improved in recent weeks and are unbeaten in their last 5 games. This is usually an explosive fixture and I can see Everton upping their game against United. Man Utd will be desperate for the win but with home advantage, I fancy the Toffees to nick it.

EVERTON’S LAST 5 – WWWDW

MAN UTD’S LAST 5 – WWWWL

SCORE PREDICTION – 3-2

ONE TO WATCH – Juan Mata (Man Utd)

ARSENAL V CHELSEA

Its 2nd against 1st in this London derby. Chelsea are 10 points clear over their nearest rivals and a win here would go a long way to taking the Premier League title back to West London. Arsenal are the form team of 2015 and have won their last 7 in the league as well as an FA Cup final appearance booked. Chelsea themselves have won their last 4 and even without Diego Costa have ground out the wins. These are always tight games and a win for Arsenal would certainly make things interesting at the top of the table.

ARSENAL’S LAST 5 – WWWWW

CHELSEA’S LAST 5 – DWWWW

SCORE PREDICTION – 1-0

ONE TO WATCH – Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

HULL V LIVERPOOL

With Liverpool still chasing Champions League football next term and Hull trying to avoid relegation, this is a big game for both teams. Depending on the results from the first game for these teams in this GW, things could be even worse for Hull if they lose to Crystal Palace and a win against West Brom for Liverpool will really keep up the pressure on Man City.

SCORE PREDICTION – 2-4

ONE TO WATCH – Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

LEICESTER V CHELSEA

If Chelsea do beat Arsenal and then get a win here at Leicester then the title will be theirs for the first time since 2010. Leicester will be scrapping though and are making a brave fight of it, so this might not be as easy a game as it suggests on paper. Chelsea are at home to Crystal Palace in their next game at Stamford Bridge, and I’m sure their fans would love to win it on home soil. Leicester play first next gameweek so it could be worth getting a player in at the start of this GW for the double points and then drop him after they play first next week.

SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1

ONE TO WATCH – Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

So that’s it from me……..remember, Chelsea WILL win the league. That’s a fact. That’s an obvious fact.

Some less obvious facts are;

Vending machines kill more people annually than sharks.

If you could stroke a cat 1000 times a minute, it would glow.

The Cookie Monsters real name is Sid.

My grandads half-brother was married to Cilla Blacks husband’s auntie.

Cheers for reading and best of luck to you all,

Gregg.
