With only 15 games to go, things are hotting up in the league. Gameweek 23 sees the top 2 battling it out on Saturday evening with Chelsea looking to extend their lead at the top and Manchester City desperate to claw back the deficit.
Diego Costa remains the highest point’s scorer of the season so far with 129. I wouldn’t have predicted that based on his performances at the World Cup! Next thing, someone will be telling me he’s only 26 years old! Definitely had a tough paper round.
Dawn D is in top spot in the FiT World Championship with her team HCAFC. 1437 points gives her an amazing weekly point’s average of 65.3.
HULL V NEWCASTLE
First game after the FA cup break sees Hull take on Newcastle in the early kick off. Both teams are coming into this game on the back of 2 straight defeats, with Hull occupying a place in the relegation zone in 18th. Newcastle have slipped to 11th after a strong first third to the season. With news of John Carver remaining in the manager’s job until the end of the season, he will be looking to get Newcastle back to winning ways. With top scorer Papiss Cisse could return after exiting the African cup of nations, but if he misses out, Newcastle will be looking to Spaniard Ayoze Perez to recapture the form he has showed intermittently this season. At 4.3 million, he has 5 goals in 13 games and maybe worth bringing in for a cheap option up front. With 3 defeats in their last 4, Hull will want to make home advantage count in their bid to avoid relegation.

NEWCASTLES LAST 5 – LWDLL
SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1
ONE TO WATCH – Ayoze Perez (Newcastle)
CRYSTAL PALACE V EVERTON
With 2 wins in a row, Crystal Palace look revitalised under Alan Pardew. They will be hoping that good form continues against an Everton side who haven’t got going this season. The Toffees last league victory was the 3-1 win over QPR way back on the 15th December. 12th place for them is in stark contrast compared to last season where they flourished under Roberto Martinez. With only 4 clean sheets in 22 games, this leaky defence is the reason why Everton find themselves languishing in mid table. A few players have stood out though, Leyton Baines has a massive 9 assists and 2 goals to his name so far, but isn’t cheap at 8.1 million. Kevin Mirallas is 6.7 million, and with an assist and 5 goals in 12 games, is a popular choice for a lot of managers. Steven Naismith is a steal at 7.4 million. He has an assist and 6 goals in 16 games. Dwight Gayle has found some form for Palace in recent weeks, 3 goals in his last 2 games. His price tag of just 4.2 million could give you options in other areas of your team. New signing Jordan Mutch could make his debut.

EVERTONS LAST 5 – LLLDD
SCORE PREDICTION – 1-2
ONE TO WATCH – Ross Barkley (Everton)
LIVERPOOL V WEST HAM
Liverpool, with back to back away wins and unbeaten in their last 6 have finally found some consistency under Brendan Rodgers this season. Liverpool are up to 8th place with West Ham a place above them after a solid season. A few stand out players for the Hammers have been Stewart Downing, 90 points so far this season and a bargain price of 6 million. Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia are worth a look but for just 5.8 million, Diafra Sakho has been decent when he’s played. 7 goals and 3 assists in 11 games is a great return for the Senegal striker. Raheem Sterling remains the main man for Liverpool but Phillipe Coutinho has been fantastic in recent weeks. A lot of people will look to Daniel Sturridge, back after his injury nightmare, to get some big points. Having only played 3 games this season, he will want to hit the ground running to try to emulate the form he showed last season.

WEST HAMS LAST 5 – LLDDW
SCORE PREDICTION – 2-0
ONE TO WATCH – Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)
MANCHESTER UNITED V LEICESTER
Rock bottom Leicester face a tough task in getting something away at Old Trafford. Man Utd will have something to prove after getting turned over 5-3 by the Foxes at the King Power stadium back in September. United have struggled with injuries this season but are almost back to a full squad to choose from, with record signing Angel di Maria ready to show the kind of form he showed earlier in the season. Robin van Persie has been quiet by his standards and I’m still waiting for him to hit his best under countryman LVG. With the likes of Rooney, Mata and Falcao, United are not short of attacking options and I fancy they will have too much for Leicester. Leonardo Ulloa remains Leicester’s top scorer with 83 points, he will want to add to his 7 goals and 3 assists this season.
MAN UTDS LAST 5 – WDDLW
LEICESTERS LAST 5 – LWDWL
SCORE PREDICTION – 4-1
ONE TO WATCH – Angel di Maria (Man Utd)
STOKE V QPR
QPR remain in real trouble just one place off the bottom, with Stoke sitting comfortably in 10th place. QPR have conceded the most goals in the division this season with 39. It’s this reason they find themselves in a relegation battle despite the brilliant form of Charlie Austin. 13 goals and 4 assists in 20 games gives him a 109 point total and 3rd on the list of highest point scorers overall so far this season. With Mame Biram Diouf away on international duty and Bojan out for the season, Stoke will be relying on other players for goals. Peter Crouch and Jon Walters will be looking to add to their 4 goals each this term.
STOKES LAST 5 – WWDLW
QPRS LAST 5 – LDDLL
SCORE PREDICTION – 1-1
ONE TO WATCH – Charlie Austin (QPR)
SUNDERLAND V BURNLEY
Burnley sit just outside the drop zone in 17th with Sunderland only one place above them. This is a real 6 pointer and both teams will be looking for victory after defeats last gameweek. Danny Ings is having a great season for Burnley. 7 goals and 5 assists in 19 games highlights his bargain price of 5.4 million. Sunderland have midfield enforcer Lee Cattermole injured and Jack Rodwell suspended. Adam Johnson is currently a doubt but Sunderland have almost a full squad at Gus Poyets disposal. Sunderland have only scored 19 goals this season, only better than Aston Villa, and will be looking to Steven Fletcher and Conor Wickham for goals. Jermain Defoe has proven goal scoring quality and Sunderland will need him to help turn their massive amount of draws into wins having drawn half their games this season.
SUNDERLANDS LAST 5 – LDLLL
BURNLEYS LAST 5 – LDDWL
SCORE PREDICTION – 2-1
ONE TO WATCH – Jermain Defoe (Sunderland)
WEST BROM V TOTTENHAM
Tony Pulis seems to have steadied the ship at West Brom, they are unbeaten in 3 games. Spurs meanwhile have had mixed fortunes after thumping Chelsea in gameweek 20. They lost 2-1 to Palace in their next game but beat Sunderland by the same score last time out. Tottenham have a trio of form players this season. Harry Kane is a snip at 6.8 million, with 8 goals and 5 assists in just 12 games. He is backed up by midfielders Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli. Eriksen, with 8 goals and 3 assists takes him to 101 points for the season. Chadli has 7 goals and 6 assists in just 16 games, which gives him a brilliant 95 point total. West Broms highest scorer is Saido Berahino, 9 goals and an assist in 18 games for him. His price of 7.2 million is very reasonable.
WEST BROMS LAST 5 – LLDWD
TOTTENHAMS LAST 5 – WDWLW
SCORE PREDICTION – 0-2
ONE TO WATCH – Harry Kane (Spurs)
CHELSEA V MANCHESTER CITY
The Saturday evening kick off sees the top 2 battle it out, with Chelsea 5 points clear at the top. A win here would put them a massive 8 points clear with only 15 games to go. Both teams suffered shock FA cup defeats last weekend but Chelsea did secure a trip to Wembley midweek at the expense of Liverpool for the league cup final. Chelsea have the top points scorer overall in Diego Costa. 17 goals and 2 assists in 19 games gives him a total of 129 points, but at the time of writing, he faces a 3 match suspension. They also have the top midfield point’s scorer in Eden Hazard and the top 2 highest scoring defenders in Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry. In fact, 5 out of the top 10 points scorers this season are Chelsea players, so it’s easy to see why they are top of the league. With Yaya Toure and new signing Wilfried Bony away at the African cup of nations, City will be looking to fit again Sergio Auguero for inspiration. 14 goals and 3 assists in 14 games gives him a season’s total of 107 points so far. David Silva has also been in superb form recently and will need that form to help unlock Chelsea’s mean defence.

MAN CITYS LAST 5 – WDWDL
SCORE PREDICTION – 2-1
ONE TO WATCH – Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
ARSENAL V ASTON VILLA
The first of Sundays 2 games sees Arsenal take on Aston Villa at the Emirates. Arsenal will be full of confidence after their brilliant 2-0 win against Man City last time out. Aston Villa however, sit in 15th in the league and have only scored 11 goals so far this season. Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann are Villas top scorers with 3 goals apiece but Villa haven’t scored at all in their last 5 games. New signing Carles Gil looks decent but Paul Lambert should really be looking to bring a proven goal scorer to Villa Park. Christian Benteke has shown flashes of good form this season but nowhere near the consistency that made him a fans favourite last season. Arsenal are once again struggling with injuries but do have Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey back in midfield. Alexis Sanchez is just behind Diego Costa as the overall top point’s scorer. 12 goals and 7 assists in 20 games gives the Chilean a total of 119.
ARSENALS LAST 5 – WWLWW
ASTON VILLAS LAST 5 – LDDLL
SCORE PREDICTION – 3-0
ONE TO WATCH – Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
SOUTHAMPTON V SWANSEA
Southampton sit third in the league after an amazing season. They have the best defence in the league having only conceded 16 goals and have scored a decent 37. Ronald Koeman has found a winning formula with the Saints who sit comfortably in the champion’s league places. They do have a few injury concerns ahead of their clash at St. Marys. Toby Alderweirld, Victor Wanyama, Morgan Schneiderlin, Sadio Mane and Shane Long are all notable absentees. At just 5.3 million, new signing Eljero Elia has 2 goals in 2 games. Graziano Pelle remains the Saints top scorer with 8 goals and 5 assists giving him a total points haul of 99. Swansea have slipped down to 9th after a poor run of form. They suffered a 5-0 beating at the hands of Chelsea in their last game and also lost top scorer Wilfried Bony to Man City during the transfer window. Stand out player Gylfi Sigurdsson is suspended and Wayne Routledge is injured so the Swans will look to Bafetimbi Gomis to step up and shine.
SOUTHAMPTONS LAST 5 – WDWWW
SWANSEAS LAST 5 – WLDDL
SCORE PREDICTION – 3-1

Well, that’s it. Thanks everyone for reading and as usual, best of luck to you all.
