FiT Looks ahead to 2015

A New Year begins and we’ve also just passed the season half-way point – there’s plenty happening in 2015.

First up, we have the Asia Cup and the African Cup of Nations to contend with. As usual, the timing of these international competitions isn’t ideal for a host of Premier League clubs and, more importantly, us Fantasy Football managers. You may have noticed a new in-app icon being used – the yellow circle with the black cross symbol means a player is either away on international duty or, in Sebastian Coates’ case, in-eligible to play against their parent club. So make sure to double check your iTeam and transfer out players that are unavailable for selection.

The start of the New Year saw Premier League clubs playing in the FA Cup for the first time this season. Progression and replays can play havoc with our Fantasy iTeams, and we already have 5 clubs that have lost their midweek rest on the 13th and 14th of Jan – West Ham, Everton, Southampton, Tottenham and Burnley. 3rd round replays haven’t changed anything fixture wise, but we’re sure to see plenty of squad rotation around this time. In future rounds, if Europa and Champions League clubs end up needing a replay to decide things, we will see fixture list disruption and double Gameweeks a possibility.

One of the major talking points at the moment is the January transfer window. It’s been a bit quiet so far, with just a handful of loan moves taking place. We should see the bigger, usually panicky transfers towards the end of the month, but be wary of bringing new players into your Fantasy iTeam too quickly… New players, especially those new to the Premier League, need time to settle in, so my advice, stick to the tried and tested until they’ve got a few games under their belt.

2015 sees the return of some big name players. With 14 goals in just 13 EPL starts, it’s great to see Sergio Aguero return to training – this weekend may be a bit too soon for a return to the first 11, but all being well, he’ll be back on the 17th. The ever so frustrating Mesut Ozil is also back in full training – let’s hope he comes back a bit more up for it. We should also see Theo starting some games, and Ramsey will return soon. Next up, Daniel Sturridge. Liverpool are on a good run, and with this man FiT, top 4 is a real possibility. He should be back with us towards the end of Jan.

Next up, the Champions League. Gameround 7 starts on Tuesday 17th February, and you can still make unlimited transfers up until 10 minutes before PSG vs Chelsea kick off. You’ll then receive 3 free and 1 optional transfer to use in-between the remaining games. GR7 is spread over 2 calender weeks, so double check the in-app Match Centre for the schedule and don’t blow your transfers too soon after receiving them.

Lastly, the FiT team is currently working hard on some cool new features for 2015. When we’re in a position to share, you’ll be first to know. For now, best of luck for the rest of the season…
