Gameweek 4 – The FiT Godfather’s Picks

August 27, 2015 4:48 pm Everton-v-Manchester-City-Premier-League

A mixed week for the Godfather picks last time out. Romero, Azpilicueta, Kompany, Mahrez, Redmond, Gomis and Costa all scored well, but there were a few let-downs – Cresswell (what was he thinking?), Payet, Depay, Silva, Aguero and Benteke all disappointed.

Here’s the picks for the upcoming weekend. The eleven players featured below cost less than £75.0m in total, so if you’ve only just joined us or want to create an additional iTeam to have a better chance at winning the weekly prize – a video games package worth £150 – then you could could pick something very similar.

Goalkeeper:

Joe Hart (£6.7m) – Three clean sheets in three, I can see that being four in four after the weekend. Watford are struggling for goals, City aren’t giving any away – easy decision!

Defenders:

Joe Gomez (£5.6m) – Signing of the summer? The young left-back hasn’t put a foot wrong so far, and Liverpool will fancy their chances of registering another clean sheet as they entertain an in-consistent West Ham side. Plus, he costs just £5.6m – bargain!!!

Vincent Kompany (£6.8m) – He’s got to remain in the picks for another week, but this could be the last time for a while as his value has now shot up by 500k in the first three weeks and he’s proving to be an expensive option with my limited budget.

Kurt Zouma (£5.3m) – With John Terry suspended, Kurt is certain to start. Surely Chelsea have to keep a clean sheet soon….

Midfielders:

Riyad Mahrez (£5.8m) – The Premier League’s top scorer will be relishing a trip to newly promoted Bournemouth who are still looking for their first clean sheet of the season.

Xherdan Shaqiri (£6.2m) – West Brom, usually so solid, have already conceded six in just three games. And it didn’t take long for Shaqiri to register some attacking points – providing an assist for Diouf after just ten minutes on his debut.

Nathan Redmond (5.7m) – Two goals and an assist in his first three appearances, he’s been a consistent threat. Southampton may be a little tired after their Europa League tie, and I’m hoping Nathan takes full advantage.

Raheem Sterling (£7.5m) – It was a tough decision between him, Silva or Yaya, I hope I’ve made the right choice. He grabbed his first Premier League assist for City last week, and I’m hoping he’ll grab his first goal in this one.

Forwards:

Julian Finney

Diego Costa (£9.3m) – He played ever so well last week and had to be included as Chelsea host Crystal Palace. It won’t be an easy game for the champions but I think Costa will definitely be amongst the goals.

Callum Wilson (£6.4m) – High on confidence, the young striker will be well up for the game against Leicester, who, like Bournemouth, are still looking for their first clean sheet of the season.

Alexis Sanchez (£9.1m) – Newcastle were outstanding against Manchester United but they will be a little more adventurous at home, and that will help Arsenal. Alexis is due, and I think he will grab his first of the season in Saturday’s early kick off.

Total value: £74.4m

Transfers:

Alexis – Aguero

Aguero – Lukaku

Lukaku – Gomis

Captain:

It was a toss up between Aguero and Costa for me this week, but Sergio just about edges it.

Injuries and Suspensions:

Make sure you check out the in-app Player List for all the latest information. Terry, Adrian, Jenkinson and Britos all miss out through suspension. Bamford cannot play against his parent club.
