A common Fantasy Football phrase, but for many of us, a confusing one. A Double Gameweek is when a team plays twice in the same Gameweek. This can happen when a match is postponed and re-arranged for a future date.
If you fire up the FiT app, visit the Match Centre, and check out the current Gameweek (31), you will see that QPR and Aston Villa play both today and Tuesday. So, what does that mean for us? It could mean mega points…
Double Gameweek rules:
Usual rules apply. Players have to be in your iTeam 10 minutes before kick off to be eligible for points.
This means, if you want a DGW player to score for you in both matches, he has to either remain in your team after the 1st match, or be transferred out and back in before the 2nd match kicks off.
The above also applies to the captaincy. If you captain, for example Charlie Austin, he will only score double points for both games if he’s in your iTeam before both games kick off.
If you’re still struggling, carry on reading:
You own and captain Christian Benteke ready for the match against Man Utd. You then sell him and bring Diego Costa in. Benteke will only score points for the Man Utd match.
You own and captain Christian Benteke for the match against Man Utd. You then sell him and bring Diego Costa in. Before QPR play Aston Villa, you use another transfer to take Costa out and bring Benteke back in. He will score double points for both matches.
You own and captain Christian Benteke ready for the match against Man Utd. You then simply leave him in your iTeam. He will score double points for both matches.
Potential Points example:
You captain Charlie Austin and he starts both games. He scores 2 in his 1st, and also provides an assist. He then does the same in his 2nd match – points scored = 60. This is an extreme example, but it highlights how important it is to select the right captain in a DGW.
Simples… The tough bit, who to transfer in and who to captain. I’m sure Austin and Benteke will be the popular picks this week but, my top tip, don’t forget Matt Phillips. Fast forward a bit and check out Gameweek 34. You will see that there is another DGW arranged – Chelsea and Leicester the 2 teams playing twice.
