Even for fantasy managers marooned – like Sunderland – at the bottom of their private leagues, there’s still plenty to play for throughout the season. This week, the top-scoring manager can win themselves a video games package worth £150, while October’s manager of the month will receive a Playstation 4 or Xbox One package worth £300.
If you’re already playing, to give yourself the best chance of winning these prizes, take advantage of the option to create additional team. You can create up to 20 more, at the cost of 220 F/c per team.
Arsenal vs Middlesbrough
After losing and drawing their first two games, Arsene Wenger’s men have been in unstoppable form recently, winning six in a row. In contrast, Boro have found life in the Premier League tough since beating hapless Sunderland in August. Aitor Karanka’s side are well-drilled, and won’t be a pushover, but Ozil, Sanchez and co. should have too much in attack for them.
Pick: Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil (£7.3m)
With 4 goals in his last 2 games, including a stunning hat-trick in the Champions League, the ‘assist king’ is finding the net frequently this season.
Manchester City vs Southampton
City’s form has stuttered recently, but they were the dominant team against Everton, and would have won the game easily had it not been for Maarten Stekelenburg’s heroics in goal. Although Southampton are in good form, and don’t concede many, they’ve lost in each of their last five visits to the Etihad, and Sergio Aguero hasn’t gone three Premier League games without a goal since December 2015.
Pick: Man City’s Sergio Aguero (£8.4m)
A must-pick for many fantasy managers at the start of the season, Aguero has been prolific in the Premier League, despite a three-match ban for an elbow on West Ham’s Winston Reid.
Chelsea vs Manchester United
Manchester United travel to the only club they have a losing record against in the Premier League on Super Sunday, and once again Jose Mourinho will be at the centre of attention. As Chelsea boss, Jose had a fearsome record at Stamford Bridge, losing just once in the league before the champions’ famous meltdown last season. If you have players from these two sides in your iTeam, expect to lose some points; this fixture can get notoriously nasty at the best of times – four red cards have been shown in the last six EPL meetings here.
Pick: Chelsea’s Diego Costa (£8.6m)
Costa is the Premier League’s leading goal scorer, with seven in eight appearances so far. The naturalised Spaniard scored a late equaliser to salvage a point for Chelsea in this fixture last season and, with Chelsea flourishing under their new system, will back himself to bag again.
